  • The art of drawing is more than recording a view, object or idea in line, shape, texture and color.
  • Drawing practice is a form of meditation.
  • Drawing practice is a perfect door to “being present”.
  • Drawing practice creates a sense of time stopping.
  • Drawing practice takes the practicioner to places, experiences, and learning that are profound and may not be available with any other practice.
  • The goal with silent drawing practice is to enhance the spiritual practice you already have.
  • Once you’ve experienced the gift of drawing as meditation you will see that anything is possible!
Additional benefits are that skill and success in your visual arts media grows, too.

Join us on Wednesdays and/or Saturdays for an hour of practice.
Plan this in your schedule or just drop in.
We will begin promptly at 10:15am both days.
If you are new to drawing from life, come 15 minutes early and Katherine will teach you the basics to get you started in drawing as meditation.
Bring basic supplies for your drawing medium, for example:
A graphite pencil, or a calligraphy-type pen, a dozen or so sheets of plain white paper, and a clip board.
If you have experience with water-based media, bring the minimum supplies and materials and arrive a few minutes early for setup.

Cost is $3 per session, towards utilities in Taniquetil Lodge.
We will have punch cards available for discount with 5 or 10 sessions paid in advance.
The expectation is to sit in silence inside Taniquetil Lodge and draw the views, or draw still-life objects (available individually or as arrangements), whichever suits you.  With warm and sunny weather, you can sit outside in silence with your drawing practice.

This detail of a Pen and Ink drawing of the Black Canyon and San Juans by Katherine Colwell illustrates the possibilities with Silent Drawing Practice.
