News and Activities – Spring 2012

Sunrise view from Rivendell March 21. Breathtaking view of the West Elks Wilderness with an "angel."
We are so fortunate to be here at Rivendell—in Delta County, Colorado—overlooking the North Fork Valley of the Gunnison River–and have such a full and fruitful life.
Activities at Rivendell include group & individual retreats; hiking; bird & wildlife watching; overnight lodging while exploring the North Fork and Surface Creek Valleys; enjoying magnificent views; and practicing creative and meditative arts—all with changes year-round, season to season.

Las Señas
The sixth and final La Seña is finally on display at Rivendell. Katherine’s goal has been to create a mandala-like artwork for each of the entrances of the Rivendell buildings.
She began in the Autumn of 2009, learning the art of ceramic painting from Lou Ann McCay of Pour Farm Ceramics (located on Rogers Mesa). Katherine created the designs using her earlier reseach on ancient religious symbols as inspiration, limiting the color palette to golden yellow, red, deep blue, and yellow-green.
When you visit, she can give you a guided tour of the designs. In the meantime enjoy your stroll through the Las Señas gallery here.
